Dear Parents - It has been a wonderful year. Thanks for all you have done to make this year so successful. You have helped in so many ways - Mystery Readers, Mystery Chefs, Class Parties, Field Day Volunteers - just to name a few. Be sure to read the End of Year Notes listed below for a few final instructions and messages.

Language Arts
Letter of the Week - This week we will learn about the letter Zz. Be sure to send something for the Alphabet Monster on Thursday.
Alphabet Lane - We will color pictures of things that begin with the letter z - zoo, zebra, zero, zigzag and zipper.
Vocabulary - pattern, rule, repeat, match, missing, same, different, sort, group, groups, over, under, in, out, through, weave, pattern blocks, shape names, words to describe size, shape and color.
Goals - Students will recognize and describe attributes. Students will copy, extend and/or create patterns. Students will sort objects.

Guidelines for Feeling Sad - Children should understand that:
they don't have to hide their feelings.
it's impossible to be happy all the time.
we all feel sad sometimes.
it'as all right to cry.
it's a good idea to talk about your sadness.
everybody needs a hug once in a while.
End of Year Notes:
Please return all classbooks and take-home books/folders by Wednesday, May 21.
Students will be receiving their final Friday Folders on Thursday, May 22. Contents will include Pre-Kindergarten certificate, SMES 2007-08 yearbook, Photo CD of 2007-08 Year in Mrs. Koporec's class, Behavior Bee, May Journals, Book of Self-Portraits, Student work (Zz pages, Weekly Readers), Classroom art projects (Jellyfish, Goldfish, and Shape Garden), Classbook (student's choice), Handwriting Book, and ABC Journal.
Summer Practice - Continue to review the alphabet (upper-case and lower-case letters.) Practice writing name using capital and lower-case letters. Work on identifying the following sight words: the, a, I, and, is, my, can, in and it. Visit the library and read to your child everyday. Practice identifying rhymes and making rhymes. Use Math skills everyday (patterning, sorting, counting, etc.)
